    hotel in Istanbul

    Hi all, my OH and myself are going to Turkey in Sept. We are stopping over in Istanbul for one night on route.
    We are wondering if anyone might have stayed there and have stayed in a hotel they could recommend.
    We are looking for somewhere central to all the sights so any help very much appreciated.

        Bramble, I have stayed at the Ramade, and the Pearl Continental right in the centre of town. Neither is unpleasant, and from memory they both do a shuttle service from the airport.
        I am led to believe that there is now a Serena hotel there too, which if there is, I would certainly recommend.

          Bob, thanks very much for that. Hav'nt heard of Serena so will google that.
          Its good to know theres a shuttle service, it makes life that little bit easier.
          We are actually in transit to Kusadasi.
          We spent two weeks in Kusadasi in May and in that time i had my teeth done but the dentist ran out of time before he was finished with my OH so we are on our way back for the rest of his treatment.
          You could say business and pleasure but it means another holiday for me as I don't need to see the dentist this time.

              Jings Bramble, are you saying you are going to Turkey for cheap dental work.
              I know people are going to Eastern Europe for hip replacements etc.
              Dental work costs an arm and a leg so maybe you could tell us more.
              Teeth fixed and a holiday. Fill us in.

                Hi Alice, yes we are having dental work done in Turkey.
                I was there in May with a group of friends. Two of them have been attending this same dentist over the past year and were due for a check-up.
                Well I was never a fan of the dentist due to a scare as a schoolchild and so neglected my teeth.
                Anyway they persuaded me to go with them and hubby came too.
                In the space of 10 days I had 13 porceline crowns, two root canals, bottom teeth on cobalt wire clips, my remaining teeth bleached and polished.
                I came home with all my teeth restored.
                The cost Euro 2,500.
                I cann ot tell you the ammount of foreigners who were out there having dental work done.
                So we are now going to get hubbys teeth finished,

                  Thanks Bramble - if I need any major dental work I'll bear it in mind.

                  Hmmm! Maybe not. If I need any major dental work I might just top myself. I'm so nervous of the dentist I'm in a state of panic just to go for a check up. Just ridiculous.

                    Alice, thats the way i felt but it got to the point of either going or loosing my teeth.
                    I have to say, after having all the work done, and not feeling any pain, i have now lost all fear of the dentist.
