I don't know all the ins and outs of listed buildings but I would contact someone official purely from the point of view that if it's a shared wall and they find out later you could end up with part of the costs of putting right. While it's still fresh it's easier to prove it was your neighbours efforts that were at fault.

I would also put in writing to your neighbour what the damage was, include photos, and state what you would like done about it.
