I've heard of lots of people having to protect their strawbs from their dogs as well as the birds. Do yours like them? I offered our two a slice of strawberry each tonight and their faces were a picture of disgust.

Never had reason to find out. They do both love wild raspberries, which are just about to appear in the woods around here. Weekend walks will be MUCH slower for a while!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Yup, Bob the dog loves strawbs, but his faves are wild rasps (will pick them off the canes with his teeth himself!) and bambles (wont try to pick these off as he's clever and waits for his stupid Mum to do it for him and get jagged!). Jake's not so keen on fruit, but goes crazy for bits of ice!!!! Parents cat eats any plant they keep in the house, and will rip your hand off for melon! The strangeness of pets......

Yep, my dog loves Strawberries - i have caught her picking her own from the strawberry tower if i don't keep an eye on her, only the ripe ones too. She also learned last year that she could pick her own runner beans straight from the vine if they were growing low down enough. Also, digging for potatoes is a race against the dog as she firmly believes in finders keepers. She seems to have nominated herself to chief taster in my veg patch!Last edited by Newbie; 07-07-2009, 01:23 PM.

Our old boy used to love wild blackberries, our current dog (his daughter) isn't quite as keen, but she does pinch the cucumbers if she can get into the greenhouse. Our other dog we took in as a starving stray and he is just too conservative in his tastes, he only wants meat or eggs or 'proper' dog-food. We've had him for 6 years now and the only unconventional thing he's ever tried is pop-corn.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
