It's a disgrace.
Mr Sheds pays £55 a month. I guess he gets value for money though ... he has no hobbies, just sits goggly eyed in front of the box for 5 hrs an evening. All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

I hate sky, they have messed us around so much. We found an email address to the head of the customer service department. We emailed him a letter explaining what was wrong etc and we had sky plus fitted for free, extra channels added and our bill cut down from £20 to £10 for 6 months!
I can write out our story at lunch if anyone is interested.I hate slugs!!

We had Sky years ago. When I went to cancel it the woman on the other end went around and around in circles. Instead of cancelling she was too busy trying to convince me to upgrade. She got pretty angry when I told her to stop her sales pitch and just cancel the damn thing. In the end I simnply told her I'd do it myself by stopping the direct debit and put the phone down.
We now have freeview instead.

I am a sports nut, dont watch films but do watch docu's Nat Geo etc.
Cant remember how much it cost, in the UK, but I know it was quite expensive, but I paid it to watch the sport. I always refused to pay the extra for boxing events etc because I felt I paid enough.
In France I have Canalsat and Canal+, and have all the sports channels. It equates to about the same as what you're paying now. It is expensive but I love sport, so for me its worth it.

Don't forget the extra £12 (nearly) cost per month which you cannot avoid to pay those oh-so value for money salaries of fat cats Wossy and co!
I kicked sky into touch many years ago and kept getting letters etc from them offering 3 months FREE. As others have said they're often keen to reduce the subscription for a while if you stay with them.
Its a question of if you can afford it in these current financial times and in view of same is it value for money for your needs.Last edited by quark1; 07-07-2009, 11:49 AM.

We got rid of Sky last year when the OH wasn't working, it was just tooo much money every month on top of the licence fee and the broadband and the mobiles and the phonebill... I haven't missed it at all, all the sport that we wanted to watch was either on Setanta or pay per view and you can find most of it on the radio or internet if you look hard enough.
The kids moan now and again but it hasn't killed 'em
