Waiting for my new dining table to be delivered ('Ooh, Bluemoon, does this mean your dining room is finally finished?' Don't be silly, it's going straight into the attic until the decorating's done.....probably Easter 2015) Then we have to take our daughter and her friend to Flamborough. I've taken the day off work and was hoping we'd be home for 6pm with everything done, the dogs tired out and only a dusk trip to the lottie to lock the chickens in, but now it looks like we'll be crawling through rush-hour traffic in a desperate attempt to reach the camp-site before dark, and no time to let the dogs have a run on the beach or a swim. Bet the table gets left in the sitting-room 'until tomorrow' too (which means the weekend if I know my OH) What a waste of a day off.

Well, Flamborough was officially closed by the time we got there so no crab, but the table and chairs arrived not long after I posted my moan (but as predicted are still in the sitting-room) so we made it in daylight and the dogs had a bit of a paddle. Then we had some lovely fish and chips in Bridlington (why do seaside F&C always taste better?) while the dogs dried out - OK I admit it, I bought them a sausage - and were home for 9.30, detoured to the lottie and collapsed into bed at 10.30. We're going to pick daughter and friend back up on Sunday, so I'm hoping for the crab then.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Ah well...could be worse....
....someone my OH knows had just put their house on the market- and the following week the house was stuck by lightening...no fire extinguishers- and in the middle of nowhere...took 30 mins for the firemen to arrive- and they promptly destroyed everything else remaining by drenching the whole house and contents...they had managed to rescue a few bits of furniture- and stored them in the outhouse.....and then a few days later a tornado swept through the hamlet, tore down all the mature trees, and the outhouse ended up being flooded with a foot of water!!!
Now come along bluemoon- bet you wouldn't have wanted to be in their shoes????

Years ago my sister bought a new dinning room table and chairs quite expensive, delivery day arrived van pulled up outside the house, opened up the van to find the table had collapsed under a couple of mattresses they had loaded on top ( someone elses ) She made them take it all back as she was worried that the they wouldnt match, took her a while to make them though. Good job it happened in the van and not when it was laden with food etc.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache

Well thankfully mine is safe....but still in the sitting-room. It wasn't such a bad day really, certainly nothing like that suffered by Nicos' friends, but I'd taken the day off work and sort of hoped that if they turned up early (delivery time anything between 8am and 3.30pm I was told, - naturally they arrived at ten to three) then I could have had a day at the seaside. We still managed a leisurely drive to the coast and were able to leave the girls to set up their tent in daylight. We've done it in the dark before (and heavy rain) trying to see by the car headlights and everybody desperately bashing in tent-pegs with anything they could find; a rock, a cricket-bat, a walking-boot.... we've camped for years and have only ever possessed one rubber mallet at a time.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I so agree with you, there's nothing better than seaside fish and chips....well other than a fresh Flamborough Crab that is , i'm glad you enjoyed your walk on the beach, sausage for the dogs ...they sound as spoilt as my cat....such a shame the people you bought your table & chairs from couldn't have narrowed the time time down for you..i.e morning or afternoon.. never mind, you have them now.
