Swine Flu Again

It's certainly not as bad as Man Flu - and that doesn't get passed onto pigs

A child in my son's year at school has been diagnosed with swine flu this week.

I was quite worried as it has now been admitted that the Tami-flu drugs won't be issued as they don't work.

Sam heard a rumour about having three weeks off school (for disinfecting purposes) if another child is diagnosed. The little ghouls have been hoping this will happen. I had to break the news that it wasn't true, much to Sam's disappointment.

I read all of the info sent home, then said to Sam that if he so much as sneezes, we'll need to shoot him.....he believed me for a split second, bless him.

It's all quite worrying though.

Our primary school also near the BANS borders also has a child with it we were told yesturday.

I do worry but only becuse in under two weeks we go on holiday. My oldest also has asthma. On the other hand at my Mums work someone in the office was tested so others were tested and some had already had it and thought it was just a summer cold. My brother has also had it and he's in London and he only had a week of work.

If they had called it "summer flu" would that have made it any different?

The media have much to answer for.

The first phase was a containment phase, i.e. can we keep it under control and allow it to burn itself out?, the phase we are in now is a treatment phase. If you have flu they will treat you, if not they won't.

Self help works, paracetamol or ibuprofen, drink plenty (sorry no booze), keep yourself away from others to stop it spreading.

8 in Mrs NOGs school have it now, school is still open. Most of those affected are under 20..i read th other day.

...I am doing a curry tonight and will pop a bit of Naga sauce in the mix, if the missus has swine flu Mr.Naga should take care of the problem lol! (of course chilli does not fight Swine Flu just in case someone comes across this by mistake looking for alternative treatments).

Lol! If she's not feeling flushed with the flu then Mr Naga will certainly do the trick! Did you grow your own Herby or buy it from Tesco?

Number one sons mate from college has it. Glad he hasnt seen this lad for a while as my son flies out to Kenya tonight for a month. Wouldnt like him to get sick out there!

Swine Flu Update

22 schools in Croydon now have children off with Swine Flu. And now we have the first death of someone without underlying health issues.

I have a husband with asthma so obviously any flu worries me enormously. However still nothing I can do about it so I am out to seive mud in my new pottager tomorrow as planned

I think nearly every school in Farnham now has cases except for the one I work in. Only a matter of time tho!

From the stuff I am getting it dosent look as bad as expected. Hopfully the second strain theat is expected in the coming winter will also be mild.

In the Counties infected we are third after Mexico and USA....which is a bit strange.

Mr Sheds came home y'day and said "oh, this chef who served 300 people at work has got swine flu, oh oh oh we're all doomed!" (or something like that).

I said calm down dear ... it's actually less severe than normal flu.

Oh he said, so it's just the media scare-mongering?

Today, a mate comes round for lunch, and Mr Sheds repeats the same "we're all doomed!" story ....

There's not a lot of point in being worried about something that might happen and if people took their kids out of school every time there was a scare in the press they'd never get any form of education which would be much more of a worry!
