My eldest daughter's class are doing a 'flour baby' project for a week. The idea is that each child has a bag of flour that they should treat as if it's a human baby, carrying it around, 'feeding' it, 'changing it', generally making sure it's looked after. The point of course being that kids get a little taster of how much work it can be and are perhaps inspired to be 'careful' as they get older.
So, this morning, my daughter presented me with 'Neil'. What I meant to say was 'Babies are a lot of responsibility and a great deal of hard work' but the actual words that leapt, unbidden and unexpected, from my mouth were 'Ohhhhh, my first grandchild! Can I hold him? Shall we get him some clothes?' D'oh!

Aww, dear little Neil, he's a bit plain but I love him anyway!
