  • fun chile pepper growing competition

    Hello
Over at thechileman.org we are inviting entries for our second annual chileman challenge. The variety for 2007 will be the NuMex Big Jim pepper and the winner will be the person who grows the largest pod. While the competition is just a bit of fun, there is thechileman trophy up for grabs, plus some signed copies of Dave DeWitt's books - a must for anyone interested in growing chile peppers!

Competition aside, the big jim variety is a great tasting pepper and excellent for stuffing with rice, cheese, chilli con carne, etc.

If anyone fancies taking part in the competition take a look at www.thechileman.org/bigjim.php

Hope you are all looking forward to growing chile peppers in 2007.

    Regards

I am giving it a go too. Sounds like good fun and I may even try using them since they are mild chillies - not like whatever I grew this year.

It was my first go and I used the seeds that came free with GYO mag - OH threw out the seed packet the day after I planted 3 seeds so I had to 'wing it'. Had a good laugh when he tasted the first chili - his face went nearly as red as the chili!!! Can anyone remember what the seeds were and how they rated heat-wise (never cooked with fresh chilis - only dried).

I'm in too, just ordered the seeds from Chilli company £1-75 + £2-00 postaage. Looked at a couple of big UK seed growers and they dont sell 'Big Jim' so got the seed quickly.

I really want to enter for this competition - for the fun - BUT , I have e-mailed the requested details several times and still haven't got a username. I see Pigletwillie and Shirlthegirl on the leaderboard, but what about you Denise. Don't see your name there unless you're using another one. Did you manage to get registered - and how did you do it.

Just had a look at your allotment blog. Looks great. Super location. And the sweetcorn !! Yum, yum. I'm sure you'll have many happy hours there for all the family.

The email I opened before this i was a 'traffic report', which said no one had been this week. The time they sent it was after your visit.

Hello Denise, thanks for that info re chile competition. At least now I know I am not being specially picked on. (Paranoid you know)
Yes, you can see my garden at this blogspot, but I must do something about posting pics of my edibles, mostly grown in containers, but with good results.
