Long version: Ok, call me a stalker, but I've recently been job hunting and have been getting on really well with the girl at the agency, however I know she's already got a daughter and given her professionalism I don't want to put her in an uncomfortable position by asking her out for a drink (especially if she turns out to be married and I still need to liaise with her over these jobs!). So in a moment of boredom I put her name into google and discovered the following general information:
Date-of-birth (and thus age)
Full address!
Alternative address
Alternative name (don't know if this is her maiden or married name, so no light shed on that one!)
And the fact that she was declared bankrupt last year!
All from the first 3 results, took all of 2 minutes.

Short version:
So I put myself into google and failed to find a single reference to me anywhere.

Luckily for me I have the same name as a comic artist, so she get's nearly all the links, which is nice.

Fortunately no personal details but it did show something that I didnt know about which was an acknowledgement by an author on his book that I helped contribute to, oh and thousands of posts on the Microsoft Newsgroups where I was a Microsoft MVP for about 4 years.

Thankfully having a very "common" surname I get lost amongst thousands although I reckon I should be there quite a bit for various reasons.

I think this is a little bit of scare-mongering?

I use two names: one is unique. No hits.

My other name is very common: hundreds of hits, but only one of them is me, and it was a very old Amazon link. Even my Facebook page didn't come up. Incredible really, because I use the Net for all my shopping, pretty much, social networking etc etc. Still you couldn't find me by Googling.
