As I write I am waiting for the Suffolk on-call doc to ring back as my daughter has high temp (38.3), headache, runny nose and 'achey legs'. I found out through a friend earlier though that a girl she was playing with on Fri has been confirmed as a case, and two of her best friends have suffered symptoms today.
Will wait an see what doc says when they call, but could be at least another 1.5 hrs yet till they do due to sheer demand. She is definitely off school tomorrow and I have just called work to let them know I won't be in either.
OH has orders to come home with more Calpol etc on his way home in the morning.

That's right but how are you supposed to know is it this virus or maybe another? As for healthy individual(so I thought) I'm fighting with 3rd cold-flu infection this year since March.I'm not happy about it.Grrrrrrrrr

She hasn't sneezed a great deal, and the doc who phoned me back at half past 12 the other night was very scathing about the press and how they have blown this up and scared normally sensible parents into panicking.
Spoke to my GP yesterday morning and as she had a number of the symptoms, they were going to treat her as a case of it. Started her on the Tamiflu, and have noticed improvment within 24 hours. At its highest her temp reached 39.2 and I really struggled to get it down. She's off school for the rest of the week, I have had to miss 2 shifts and all my employers care about is how soon I will be back and how I'm going to make up my missed shifts as I have no carer leave left. Nice innit?!
My child is more imoprtant than any job, and I'm considering speaking to Unison about where I stand about getting unpaid parental leave

We've had two cases at school, both who got over it very quickly. I did spend yesterday encouraging any pupils with the slightest symptoms to stay home for the purely selfish reason that I don't want to spoil my holiday.

all drs & hospitals at the mo have to issue tamiflu to every that is showing flu like symptoms. i havent met anyone that is "really" ill from it & im working with people who have had it & who are suspected of having it (work at a hospital)... the worse bit about this whole thing is people who panic & are treating the words swine flu like its the plague!

My lad sent me a text message last night - in Scarborough the local paper billboards said that there was suspected swine flu at the bacon factory! He has taken a photo of the board and promised to email it to me!

                          It's all gone crazy.........
I had last Monday off work (very Rare) I had sickness, temp, aches, fever etc- in fact I could tick all the boxes. To be safe I called NHS line they said call doc's - doc called me back said NO to Swine Flu - phew, even almost two weeks later I still feel rough and am able to tick All the - 'this is how you feel in the recovery stage' boxes...... How can they tell without testing! they say some get it and don't even know they have swine flu.
Guess I will never know. Still, if I am going to get it there is little I can do apart from doing the best for myself and others! I try to keep smiling but have to say I am a little worried!

I would imagine adults are more likely to get this from a checkout operator in the supermarket than kids are (were, as most have broken up now for the hols) from school.

How many people go through a till within an operators shift and they may have been to another shop before that one so the same applies there.

If you work on a till you must have a higher chance of contracting this than an office worker.
