Hi All,
Regulars amongst you will remember that a month ago I was given notice to cease growing veg on a tree belt at the end of my garden - see the pictures for a before and after....
I was making enquiries about buying it from the owner - a company which maintains green bits after property developers have gone from a housing estate. Unfortunately I have had to abandon this plan and as of Sept.10th th area has to be cleared, a sad day after three years of hard work and lots of enjoyment.
Following a discussion with the Planning Office at West Lindsey Council I am told that even if I purchased it it would have to remain as a natural tree belt (natural meaning riddled with horsetail and bindweed) - I cannot have raised beds, grow veg., keep my rasp. canes., and not even turf it to make a play area for my children. As such I would be paying money to look at a load of weeds with the added pleasure of knowing that they were now my responsibility!!
When I pointed out the many benefits of GYO I was told that I should get an allotment if I wished to continue with my passion. Planning regulations are a nonsense and I now have to demolish all my hard work...
