Never eaten a tomato. I've grown millions (well all right then, thousands) and every year I try one, but I just don't like them. I've tried just about every variety going in a desperate quest for a tom I can eat, but no luck. They always look so delicious... but then I take a bite and yeeeeeeeuuuuuk. My mum is the same with mushrooms, loves the look and smell, can't bear the taste.

Are we talking about 'British' food here??
I think I've tasted most things- can't think of anything at the moment I've not had and would like to try.
Up until 3 yrs ago I'd never tried truffles and always fancied a taste....and when I did was really disappointed by the flavour.
Of course here in France there are quite a few things I've not yet tried ( not knowing what they are or how to prepare them!!!)
Things I don't fancy are pigs ears ( V popular in Spain I believe), chickens feet and heads, eyeballs, widgery grubs ,you know..the standard 'yukky'bits !
2 unusual things I'd like to taste- but wouldn't out of principle - would be whale and mammoth() ...nor bush meat.
Not eaten ostrich egg...wouldn't mind having a taste just to see what it's like!"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
Location....Normandy France

I've eaten most Western food stuffs - and I like to think I'll give anything a go once.
I'm not sure I'd be keen to accept an invite to a barbecue at Bear Grylls house, or that I'd eat many of the things shown on I'm a Slebrity, but I've yet to see anything on a menu that repulses me.
At the risk of upsetting a number of people - I quite fancy trying horse.Last edited by HeyWayne; 21-07-2009, 09:53 AM.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/

The bits that the rich people throw away are often converted into wonderful meals by the enterprising poor. Ok that doesn't apply now but it did.
Vegetarian foods in countries with a strong 'peasant' culture are brilliant and tasty. Here we have black puddings, cheese and potato pies, cheese and onion peis, many offal dishes etc. for 'peasant foods'. Try them before you knock them, people!Last edited by Flummery; 21-07-2009, 10:50 AM.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Ate horse years ago in France and it was rather tough but think that was the way it was cooked rather than a reflection on the actual meat. Tried donkey in China a couple of years ago and that was quite nice, a bit like a cross between lamb and beef. Didn't eat the dog caserole that was served up later in the day though but mainly cos it was swimming in grease. As far as what animals we will and won't eat, most of it is cultural, I'm more concerned with striving to eat meat that has been properly cared for and humanely killed (yes, I know this is unlikely for said donkey!) than getting concerned that somebody, somewhere might have the same animal as a pet.
Re offal and seafood, most of both are really nice if cooked properly.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
