If they are put incorrectly they do not hurt going in or once they are in.

I dread blood tests, the blood people always say i must be dead as my veins are so small and deep, to find a vein takes about 5 attempts, including the hands. some days ive even had to go back another day to try again.

Sorry to stabee-s. Docs go for the best chance, very few are sadists.
(the work pattern suggests they are masochists)

My sympathies NOGs, not fun is it. I had shed loads of them for Chemo but never in the wrist I have to say. Plenty in crook of the elbow and then arm bandaged to wooden plank (seriously that big) towards the end though.

However after a big argument with a doc (I told him to stick it in his arm first and then he could do mine etc) it turns out there's a numbing cream they can put on, for say 30 mins before and so when the canni has to be moved, it doesn't hurt so much, IF AT ALL. So perhaps next time they want to put one in your wrist, they could use that stuff first - just a suggestion

Ask for EMLA cream. There are other names for it too but that's a popular one. Some swear by it; others are less sure...

I really believe in preventing unnecessary pricks - too many of them around.
