I get asked to do the strangest things...

The sub-title to this should read - I've got the best job ever!

You may know that I was recently asked to design and buy plants for a new garden at work, well, yesterday we had a meeting of all the ladies in the company to talk about the state of the ladies facilities. The Gents had a complete refurb last year, but the plans for the ladies was shelved due to budget constraints.

It came to light in the meeting that all the women in the company had to be skilled plumbers if they wanted to use the facilities because they are so decrepid (the facilities, not the ladies using them!). Well, the MD got called in, and he agreed to look at the budget again as he hadn't realised how bad the situation had become, and the upshot is that I've been asked to design the new ladies facilities, and the MD has also mentioned that the Boardroom needs updating too. How cool is that!!

NB: I do have a BA(Hons) degree in Interior Design, so its not a completely random request.

No, but I am very handy with copper pipe and a pipe bender! Its amazing what you have to learn when you're house building!!

A quick update...

Well, I got my design finished and my quotes back. I compiled a spreadsheet of all the costs involved. Submitted them to the MD, and he said...

YES!!

Aparently I've come in at half the cost of the 'Gents' refurb and yet the 'Ladies' is three times the size. And I haven't stinted on anything, and I've chosen the most gorgeous border tile, so us girls have a bit of glam coming our way. Work starts in October, and the MD has already asked me to look into redesigning the factory floor to make it more visitor friendly!!

Oh, I suspect he'll do an official walk round, wave at the peasants, kiss a small child, cut a ribbon or two, that kind of thing
