Stanley cooker (AGA type cooker) for £100. That was about 5 years ago and it's still in the garage. OH died just after I bought it and everything went on hold for a bit.

It should be in by Xmas .

OH does, he buys and sells all sorts. He sometimes buys broken electronic things and then repairs them and sells them on. He has mended loads of playstations and sold them again and flat screen monitors. He even got our wii at a ridiculous price, and fixed that up but we kept that!

If I want something I just get him to get to and he 'snipes' them Brilliant.

If a seller is breaching Ebay's conditions, you can get your money back (especially if you use paypal).
Most people are wary of the high postage-charge items, but as a result, I have more than once purchased an item a lot more cheaply than an otherwise similar item listed with low postage charge. Ebay charge the seller based on the selling price, but the postage charges are exempt, so adding it on the postage may seem like a good move, but I've noticed that often, it is counter-productive.....

say i buy from u i then lodge a sellers dispute and claim the item is not as described and u have not answered my e mails, mor often yhan not e bar will refund the money to me from your account without your permision. i then dont return the goods and u are out of pocket. it does not matter about feedback cause i just re register and u now have to try to recover your money with e bay which can be very frustrating.
i have 100 per cent feedback in selling and buying, but tend just to "buy it now " options. and given up selling too many people selling the same items.

Paypal is all on the side of the buyer, but the reason I use it is convenience (and increasingly is is available for other purchases).
I haven't sold anything yet but it looks to me as if a seller would be well advised to refuse any communication that doesn't come through the ebay system, then what has or has not been said can be proved. If you mention 'all communication via ebay messages' on the description of the article you should be covered......

If I want something, I place a bid, and wait to see what happens. If anyone has used a 'sniper', they have to pay more than my bid to get the item. No fuss, no bother, and the only reason I don't get things is... someone else wants it more than I do. Suits me!
The exception is if there are no bids at all, with not long to go. Sometimes starting the bidding sets others off, so if I am first to bid, I make it as late as I dare......

I love ebay, in fact I bought my new pc from it after accumulating funds by selling stuff on it. In fact I am off to the post office to post a landrover grille that fold for £36 very shortly.

As long as you dont try to buy something for a silly price from somebody with very little feedback, its very safe, especially the shops.

I only ever bid right at the last minute otherwise other bidders can drive the price up.

Spot on. I love ebay, but as I can only access the internet at work, I often miss out on things I want because the price goes up at the last minute (which is usually around midnight). Still, it does mean that I'm not tempted to alter my maximum bid!

Best thing I bought was my wedding dress - a gorgeous blue floaty 1940s vintage ball gown for £80. Also matching shoes, new not vintage, for £9.99!!

as for wierd, I kid you not people! Some one once sold an air guitar, complete with amplifiers? And a plectrum? Somebody else sold a pound coin; nothing special about, not a collectors item or anything, just a bog standard pound coin. They got £1.50 for it apparently!!!

I have just listed a load of land rover spares, my lightweight went out of the garage last week and this lot as well as giving me some more workshop space will bring in a few euros for our hols.

A good chunk of my shopping is done via ebay. Just compare the prices else where as some buy it now goodies are not the bargain they would seem.
