French Students

I haven't got swine flu and died - I am still here. Have just been very busy!

It all started a few weeks back when I acquired 2 French students who are in the UK for free allotment labour, no, I mean to learn English.

All of their antics + allotment + work + sleep has left me with no time for forum :-(

Anyway LizzyLemon has just emailed me and jogged my memory!

I remember taking in students very well, back in 1980 I took in a lovely swedish boy aged 12, while he was still with us I had a spanish girl aged 16 also lovely, then while she was still with us an italian girl aged 17 they were all very lovely polite students, you would be very proud to have kids like them.
In 1981 I had my second son born on the 28th July and when he was 12 days old I had a coloured girl from the gambia aged 12, very rude, left food under just about everything, chewing gum stuck to furniture, brought friends back when she was asked not to, ie lunch times when they were supposed to be with their own familys, I asked her to ' help ' dry the dishes so we could all go out for a drive after sunday lunch it was a very hot day, she said we have slaves to do things like that where are yours!!!! I was totally gobsmaked needles to say we didnt go out. I couldnt wait for her to go home. I then had a gorgeous Italian 17yr old boy very tall, and wow was he cute or what, all the mums on the estate were drooling over him, no wonder they kept popping in for coffee or any excuse they could think of. I didnt have any after that as it was too much hard work as well as with my own two young sons. I have never been tempted to have them to stay again unless it was exchange students.

We had a Spanish exchange bloke at work.....don't ask why...he was 18 and did not speak word of English.

On the Monday we took him to lunch at the Cafe for a fryup, Tuesday fish and chips, Wednesday Pie and Mash, Thursday curry and Friday down the pub for Guinness....the poor lad I hope he got over it....We didn't get any more after that.

We used to have loads of foreign language students at home when I was growing up. I am CONVINCED this is why I became a language teacher

We even used to go back to theirs on holidays - me and my bro, great fun
