Another thing that gets my goat is when people mispronounce names AFTER being told how to say it!!! The Russian Tennis player's name is pronounced Sharapova, very quickly with no particular emphasis on any sylable. Despite being told this, announcers still insist on calling her SharraPOVAH with emphasis on the last. Is this ignorant or what. My name is Robertson, and the number of people who insist on calling my Robinson, AAAAAAAH

Or, as I've heard TV presenters here saying, 'very unique' - I absolutely agree with all you say.

Also, I recently read on the newstrip on a morning TV show (an Irish channel), that Michael Caine, when interviewed about a new film (a few months ago, the most recent one) had 'threatened to retire' if he doesn't get good parts!

I mean to say - threatened? I didn't feel threatened, and my guess is that someone asked him whether there were any parts in the pipeline and he remarked that he might retire. I think he can pick and choose his parts, but I doubt that he 'threatened' to retire. The type of language used in reporting can be anything but accurate.

CB has a really irritating habit of saying "don't I" instead of "haven't I" drives me bonkers correcting her all the time

The boys are always nagged at for 'me and whoever' instead of putting the name of the friend first. They tell me I am fussy

No we're just nagging mums who want our kids to speak properly

CB uses "Random" occasionally as well and she's not even a teen yet (12).

Letting her off today though, she dealt with the 'Henry thing' really well (she found him)

I have to say after reading all the above I am literally tearing my hair out...

(That said, my bald patch is big enough for a casual observer to believe this could be literally true. )
