Leaves turning colour already!

Is it just me...or do trees start changing leaf colour before August????

My cherry trees are getting lovely deep red leaves and the peach leaves are drooping and going yellow.
All the other trees nearby look healthy enough -so I don't think they're sick!

Anyone else noticed this...or is it normal and I've never had time to stand and stare/notice before???

Can't say I've noticed other tree types, but our Horse Chestnut looks like its in full Autumn mode, but that is because of the leaf miner of course, then on the flip side, the Rowan trees around us have all still got their berries on from winter!

I don't think nature can quite get its head around what we've done to it.

Sorry I've never kept dates Nicos, but I do know what you mean.
Every year I hear myself saying -
I can't believe it's spring in February
the berries are on the rowans so early
the leaves are starting to turn already.
My darling husband was wittering about whatever tree appeared to be colouring the other day.
I'll pay more attention tomorrow and let you know.

It did feel distinctly autumnal this morning. Lord that sounds posh - didn't mean it that way! No trees colouring yet, but the rowan berries are abundant, and blackberries nearly ready to pick. When I was a kid, that was autumn

Haven't noticed the trees changing over here, but I did notice them changing in France whilst watching the Tour. Last year the leaves here were changing in August, but I had put that down to the very wet weather.

The years seem to go by so quickly. I was thinking, the other day, that I ought to start making chutney now so that it's ready for Christmas. And I need to start making Christmas stock for the craft fairs too. In July.....

A collegue has just told me she saw someone out blackberrying yesterday - in July!! That is early isn't it.

My garden blackberries are ready for picking!!!...fortunately they fruit right through til early October!

not only are the leaves going golden here, the blackberries are beginning to ripen and my michaelmas daisies are almost ready to flower.....if it stays as hot as it has been i hate to think what august will be like....i have given up on the flower garden for this year. My apricot tree has died...BUT i have some lovely peaches and more grapes this year than on any previous ones since we bought the house (1991).
