  • What would you say Flossie is worth?

Oh boy!! I just watched a TV commercial and decided to find out how much I would be offered for Flossie - by webuyanycar.com

How much do you reckon I got offered for a 24 year old Mk1 Golf 1.8GTI cabrio in bronze - in excellent condition with a full MOT and pretty much a full service history?

I am going to wait for a few more guesses before I reveal.

Just for reference, my classic insurance policy has a guaranteed value of £4500 for Flossie. It is a very rare colour for a MK1 Golf - so much so that even at a special show where 145 cars attended, I had the only bronze one!

I wasn't meaning to insult your car Shirley Just that these web-based things are often completely based on age etc and nowt to do with reality

My guess is £5000. Got to be worth quite a bit.

                No idea....

......but I hope she's worth lots & lots.

We had a MK1 golf, in black, with a soft top, many years ago when we lived in Germany. She was the most reliable car we ever owned, was fifth hand when we bought her from a young army officer and was still going strong many years later when we sold her to a friend (who drove her for another 9 years)

We went back & forth from Germany to Somerset & Scotland about 8 times a year, and also wracked up huge mileage travelling around Europe for holidays. Never once did she break down....worth her weight in gold!

I really hope Flossie is worth loads!

Not a lot! I've just put in my 3 year old car details and got a ridiculous price, when I know for a fact that it has depreiated THAT much!!

It said my V reg Focus is worth just over a grand, including any Road Fund Licence refund Considering that could be up to £160, the valuation is really less than £900...

I'd say £250. I'm amazed your insurer thinks its worth £4500! Do you? If not you may be able to save some money on your premium. If there is someone prepared to pay that kind of money I'd sell in an instant...

It would cost me that to replace her as she is a rare colour and in superb condition. It is a specialist classic car policy with the value agreed by the insurer so that I could replace the car in the event of an accident.

BTW, I wouldn't sell her if I was offered £4,500 as she is my dream car and so much fun, I can't think of a car I would rather drive. Not to mention she was a Valentine's prezzie from Madmax

Is that the squared version which was replaced by the heavier, slower GTI ??
..if so- I had one of those for 8 years. ( hard top and silver)
Think it was much more nippy than the next one in the series.
I used to be able to fit 6 bales of shavings in it no problem!!!!
Fingers crossed for you that it's worth quite a bit now...I certainly thoroughly enjoyed driving mine- and I bet anyone into 'old' ( would you call in Vintage 'at 24 yrs???) cars would have fun driving it.
Was comfy too if I recall!

I would imagine they've offered a lot less than it's actually worth but you know you could get £2000-£2500 scrappage if you had it crushed & bought a new one! (only joking, I know you love her!)
