We are painting our kitchen at the moment - cornflower pale blue. Try useing a thin plank of wood as a paint guard for the straight line.

Good idea though ... I did use a sheet of newspaper first, but it kept flopping over, as it would.

When does Mr S get home. Has he any idea what kind of reception awaits him?

Sounds like your tiler is a sensible bloke. You're lucky to have found him.
I don't do gasket blowing, just go off and play on pc for a while to calm down. My OH is also fairly chilled a lot (but not all) of the time.

The cream paint I got to go with the Hi Viz Orange (2 walls of each) looked like tippex once I put it on.
Off to the shop again ... and the Pale Primrose looked awfully like lemon in the shop, not like the paint chart at all.
So I got "warm" Something Or Other. Next mistake: I bought own-brand Wilko paint not Dulux. OMG ! I actually ended up in tears of frustration. It managed to be really thin and really quick drying, so I was painting on blobs because it was drying so fast in the tray

Always get testers pots first... I have boxes of them.
I use low-tack masking tape if I really need a straight edge, always peels off if you don't leave it for weeks (like OH has been) known to)
I love wilkos paint - never had a problem with it. But I won't touch Crown with a bargepole!

I did the first room in Dulux (because it was half price) and the 2nd one in my usual cheapo fashion.
The Dulux went on like a dream ... the Wilko more like a nightmare. I thought paint was paint was paint.

Select a box from your recycling, slice it down the pre-folded seams, and you've got a selection of cutting-in guides. When one bit gets too painty, bin it and select a fresh one. Just move it along the wall with you as you paint.

PS Had I chosen pink/purple sparklies in this situation, OH would have said they looked the best thing since soft loo roll, and my plan for revenge would have been scuppered. He also knows that, as a total perfectionist, any mis-matching tiles, be they pink or nearly the right shade of black, would have bugged me every time I cast my gorgeous orbs over them!

Ah but, therein lies a problem. All my boxes go under the guinea pigs as bedding .. I could fish one out and flick the poops off though

Ok..yeah...maybe you shouldn't fish one out from your recycling then....could be messy.
