Junk Mail

So far today I have had pushed through my letterbox:

Pizza menu x 2
Asda brochure
United Carpets brochure
Somerfield brochure
Morrisons brochure
and a bag to fill with unwanted clothes etc.

Is this a record or has anyone else had more leaflets shoved through the door on any one day?

PS They are all going directly into the recycle bin

We get two free newspapers pushed through the door each week - complete with a full set of the above in both copies. Newspaper gets used in the litter trays and the rest gets recycled. Humph! Don't even read the stuff. What a waste of paper.

I wouldn't mind so much if they came through in one go, but they are all delivered separately, and no-one ever shuts the gate !!!!!!!

I have a sign on the letterbox "no leaflets, no junk mail, no menus"

I can't see the point in delivering something that will go straight in the bin. If everyone did this, half the darn things wouldn't be printed

I urge anyone who receives junk mail with an SAE inside, to rip up the contents of the mail and put them back inside the SAE and send it off.
If everyone did this they would soon stop.

Registering with the mail preference service will cut down on unwanted direct mail - I don't know how you would stop the 'flyers' which arrive with the local paper, though.

We used to get loads of Free samples....they must think we are posh....cant complain a free hair was is a free hair wash.

I had a sign like this for a while, found it got totally ignored, was suggested to me that Eastern Europeans where 'employed' to post this rubbish through the doors, so they cannot read English very well.

I also get those Betterware and Kleeneze catalogues, on average at least 1 a week from different regional reps.

I also average 2-3 charity bags a week, I use these as bin liners.

Thanks for that Hazel - I couldn't remember what it was! We registered with these people and our junk mail has virtually stopped. Sadly, nowt you can do about local papers/local junk mail.

i do not rip them up just swap stuff round like barclay card go's to some car insurance company and like wise they have to pay then to receive junk mail....jacob

I registered with that mail preference service and also one for the phones; it has helped a bit but I would like to stop the ones that come to the door too. It is getting quite ridiculous.

I usually leave them out in the rain so they get ruined... but they still keep a coming.!

Take all the insides out then, and put a seed catalogue back inside the little plastic envelope (T&M send me about 20 a year)
