hey, if anyone knows of a solicitor on here they might be able to help here. my local council is very good for recycling etc.. but the story remains that part of our council tax bill goes towards this departments, so in turn; could we not send a bill to the leafleters for the space it takes up in our bin?? easy way to make money, just add a £50 charge for labour carrying the rubbish to the bin.
that will soon stop the b.....

Of course, advertisers use direct mail campaigns because they think that you would like to see their information, and you may like to buy from them. The targetting isn't always great (do I want a stairlift in my house? I think not), but this form of advertising must pay dividends in terms of response/sales as far as the advertiser is concerned, or they wouldn't do it.
As a side issue, the money spent by them in this regard also employs designers, printers, collators and the guy who delivers the leaflets to your door, keeping the wheels of industry (such as it is!) turning.
And all you have to do is put it in the recycling if you are not interested.

It's unnecessary.
A better idea (imo) would be for kebab shops/double glazers/etc to employ a teenager to pick up litter, whilst wearing a tee-shirt with the kebab shop logo on it. Good PR, cleaner streets, and advertising too.Last edited by Two_Sheds; 02-08-2009, 08:40 AM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
