  • Gnomes!!!!!!

    There are strange things afoot!

About 2 weeks ago I went outside to check on my veg and there, sat next to my garlic, was a gnome

I know I didn't put it there, my OH didn't put it there, so where did it come from?

Now, 14 days later I am still none the wiser, the gnomes, and other miscellaneous pot creatures, are still arriving in the garden at an alarming rate! 14 now

I have questioned my mates in the pub, all of whom deny any involvement, although I have managed to rule out most of them due to them being at work etc. when the little chaps have arrived!

I think I secretly don't want to find out who it is so they keep coming

Here's a pic of gnome number 1, pictures of them all on my blogger page (link at bottom).

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that, I'll be over
    here, looking through your stuff.

Somebody might be distraught at the loss of their gnome collection somewhere near you?
We had a patio set dumped in our garden once and it had been taken from the garden of a house up the road by the local doylems on their way past from the park, and dumped when they got bored of carrying it

I used to have strange things turn up in my garden - childrens toys, shoes, cushions etc.
It took a while to work out that foxes were pinching them in neighbouring gardens and leaving them in mine.

A house up the street has a garden full of gnomes. When we were out for walks my eldest dog used to stop at their wall and growl at them - that's my boy!

It's kept my cats off the beds, think the dog is a little disgruntled though

Mustard, have you discovered where those gnomes are coming from.
                I suspect pranksters.

There's a house near here I pass on my travels with full size replicas of horses, cows and dear knows what in the garden,

I must take a pic and you can all let me know what you think.

Oh how funny! I wonder how many they'll stop at!

Alice, this is rife in Michigan. I thought it was hilarious and was most disturbed when this Mid-West American trend started over here!!

I suspect one of my friends, just don't know which, one was my best man in June, the other, the one that got me interested in growing veg.
Don't think they'll be stolen, they're decent people, some of them even look new although not expensive
I just hope they don't disappear, I have heard of gnomes going on "holiday" and sending you postcards

                        I'll keep you all updated

That's one of my favourite bits of Amélie, where she takes her Dad's gnome and sends it to various places around the world. He gets letters with pictures of his gnome next to various landmarks. Really funny (and quite sweet!).

More gnomes? What are they up to when you're not looking?
