Remember the book crossing thread...well when we were out the other day we found one.....

    Book crossing

    Well done you.

I still get notifications but they always come 24 hours after the books have been set free.

I did one Sunday morning several months ago set off in hot pursuit of 5 books released in the centre of the nearby market town, I already knew all of the locations, but alas all were long gone, I even checked the nearby litter bins just in case.

I have thought about setting some of my own free, usually people use cheap books from Charity shops, but i never seem to have to time.

      Book crossing?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

          This was brand new.

Book Crossing...you mark a book then release it (leave it somewhere)....someone finds it reads it....updates the website... then releases it somewhere else....over time you can track where the book has been.

This country sucks....no UK Book Crossing Club listed on the left of their site in International groups.

Ah, according to that site there have been two books "released" in Warrington, one 4 weeks ago and the other 3 years ago. I think I'll just stick to just sharing with my friends (we run a bit of an informal libary between us) or use the book share bookcase at work (you donate books you don't want and somebody else puts a charity donation in and takes them) as this looks a bit gimmiky to me and a bit of a pain chasing round after something that somebody might already have got.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

I give mine to the library, the theory being that I can then re-read if if I so choose. Never re-found one yet though I do wonder where they end up...

I also sell them to the chap on the market and then buy others with the profits

To be honest, I go to the BXOZ [Book Crossing Official Zones] and that's where I pick books up and drop them off; the cafes that are BXOZ welcome BX meetings and have bookcases dedicated to BX books. You don't go chasing around city centres [unless you want to of course].

                          But each to their own

                              Awwww....

...thanks everyone for all your research! xxx

OH and I devour books. We do keep a lot (we've got about 3000 in our house)but we do have quite a lot that we would love to release. I love the theory behind the BX it's just brilliant.

I'll look into it a bit more now.
