  • What does thou doeth when bored?

It has rained solidly or blown or blown and rained for weeks, so I have hardly been out in the garden for any length of time. I have spent some of the hours going through the pictures of the garden we took 11 years ago.
    Before and after stuff.

The Veg patch is not visible on this view, but I will find one eventually!

Lovely garden Palustris. It's good to see before and after pics as you can really appreciate what has been achieved. Thank you for posting it. If your still bored you can post some more pics as I love a look at everybodies garden. How about your vegetable patch.

Soon be the shortest day and we can look forward to a bit more light and getting started again !

Really good there Nick. Saddest thing for me is that Boots lost one film of the garden in development and some pictures are still on a corrupted Hard drive waiting for a method of getting at them.
I do not seem to have any up to date picturs of the vegetable part of the garden, it is not really very pretty.
There are though more before and afterbits still to be shown!

Your Hard drive problem - You can buy cases that you fix the HDD into & then plug this into a USB socket & the computer (if it's XP or Win 2K) should just see it as an external memory stick & you nmay be able to get it off like that. Can't help with the Boots problem though

We tried that and it does not work. We need to send it to a professional data recovery service, but they cost money and there is nothing really desperate on the drive, other than a few pictures. Thanks anyway.

Being a bit of a no brainer on computers, so probably going to get shot down (whats new!!!) but, I would have thought that hooking into a corrupted drive was a bit dodgy in case you corrupt your present drive, is it not?

Palustris...RE:_What to do when bored...Why don't you start your own blog? They are free and you could store all your gardening photo's on there and you never need be bored again.! I have one myself but I'm not very well organised so keep forgetting to add to it. Mine's pretty crap so I don't put a link to it, but you could!!!I think they are best used as an online diary.

                Just a thought!

Depends how it got corrupted Snadger. If it was thru a virus, yes. If the HDD just crashed, you may still be able to retrieve the info on there as it will be just a mass storage device & wont neccasarily need the operating system on it to function.

Thanks for the pics, Nick. Love to see before and after pics. You've obviously done a wheen of work there, and been well rewarded for it. Lovely garden now.
When it gets into the worst days of January I'll dig out some "before" pics of mine. I started the whole place with a box of matches, burning the waist high grass, or whatever it was.
Palustrus, shame you lost your pics. You cold just start a new series and share them with us. I, for one, would love a look.

The drive is physically damaged and cannpt be read from an ordinary drive.
I have a Blog, but it is where I publish my stories rather than my gardening stuff.
There are still a lot more photos to go through yet, so I will see what looks interesting.
Mind today the weather was kind so I spent it shredding conifers!

If you are bored you can while away some time perusing the pages from Thomas Etty Esq. His home page is nothing special but click one of the links to the left hand side, the resulting page is just wonderful.

I know its a hobby of mine to bang on about this, but, it is important to support smaller seed houses or you end up with the 'supermarket' problem!

You could of course while away the time planning ( dreaming) planning and dreaming!!
I seem to be doing a lot of that at the moment.

Nick: Very well done, but how did you get the angle on these pictures? Surely not from the roof ridge - or did you hire a crane?
