Tormented by wasps

Am trying to do some work today - yes I know it is lovely and I am trying not to make excuses to pack it in! The house is full of wasps AGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Anybody else having this problem?
Been and bought a hideous beaded fly screen but the only effect it is having is keeping Boots my Spaniel in the house as he is frightened of it - wasps just sailing through!

Then to make matters worse OH keeps swotting them and leaving them where they land - think I may have to swot him if he carries on

Gonna change your title to read Wasps not Waps...I did wonder what you were on about.....

I appreciate that this will be difficult but the best thing is to ignore them completely. They don't want to sting you and will only do so if they feel threatened.
Another way to keep them out of the house is to hang up jam jars with a bit of jam in them on a tree or hedge away from the house.

My garden is full of them - I've been checking too see if there is a nest nearby but can't find one.

They really scare me and so gardening is no fun at all. (And yes, I know they mean me no harm, just like I know planes can fly and if I stand on the edge of a cliff I won't automatically fall over it!)

Poor you and yours. Soz dont have a remedy except that awful fly spray - which smells awful, stinks the house out, but does kill the offenders.

We are overun too, both OH and myself have been stung today. I thought that to get stung you had to flap and scream but one just flew up to me and sting me on the ankle for no reason (I'm not bitter!!!).
I'll be looking into the ideas above!
I may have to make my own Waspinator! Do you think it would work to hang an old wasp nest on the patio?

I'm a little ashamed to admit that I'm absolutely terrified of them & try as I might to stay calm,it's flailing arms & running away for me!Andi actually bugs me when he tells me to stay calm...firstly,he really should know after ten years that it's a genuine phobia,but also the fact that he stays calm,yet gets stung at least four or five times a year,I on the other hand(touch wood)haven't been stung since I was a kiddie!

I really don't mean nor want to come across as having a nag,but please if you're someone that is able to adopt the calm approach,don't assume us "wusses" that can't are being pathetic!I know it's an almost irrational fear and wish that I wasn't so scared,but I am!Like with people with spider phobias,I can't even stand to look at a picture of one,yet for some reason spider phobes get sympathy,us with wasp phobia just get told to stay calm & stop being silly!(and the only difference between us is that we're scared of something that actually does have the ability to bloody hurt!)

The waspinator is on order - thanks Alice! Have just removed the 62nd wasp of the day so getting a bit fed up now. Have tried to ignore them but it is no good, having to make do with some traps until it arrives...

we have had loads at lottie today.....also a swarm of ladybirds and flying ants....LOL HUGE wasps nest on old gits compost heap..

I know they can be annoying but don't forget that wasps do a lot of good also and act as pollinators. Personally I find fly spray far worse than wasps, it makes me start coughing and a can taste it at the back of my throat for ages, won't have the stuff in the house.

On the subject of the spray killer stuff.I'm sure they must have been spraying it in the shops at the zoo...the coffee stunk of fly killer...worked out it was actually the cup & not the coffee!
