EBay tip!!!

Just been listing a few books on ebay and realised that if listed for less than 99p they are free to list. Whats, more (and this is where the light bulb goes on over the head), you can list in two categories for free as the second category costs double the first category.......nowt times nowt equals nowt!
I also listed a book about chook keeping which gave me as many photo's as I liked for free. So if you search them out, certain categories give you limitless free piccies.

Yep......that's why I've reverted to listing direct on eBay!

Done a bit of research and found that the categories with limitless free piccies are Clothes, Shoes & Accessories. Also all of the Home and Garden category!

I couldn't understand why peeps were complaining that eBay listing fees are "too high to be worth the bother"... they're free under a quid.

The problem with listing for 99p though, is that sometimes that is all you will get (buyers are getting smart and using sniping tools more and more)

The point to an auction is that if there are 2 people who want something, one of them has to pay more than the other one thinks it is worth. I've bought books at 99p each, purely because no-one else wanted them. I bid at least an hour before 'end of listing', sometimes long before. I put what I am willing to pay. If someone else wants it, they have to pay more than I would, in which case, they are welcome to it.
Most people selling books that go cheap are charging quite a bit on p&p. I will pay that on something I want, if it keeps the 'purchase price' down (and it often does). Recently an item I wanted there were several on offer, the ones with lower p&p were selling about £75. I paid £69 INCLUDING a rather high p&p figure....

I find listing at 99p gets more people interested and therefore more bids so everyone wins! You just have to make sure you photo, describe and list correctly so the item can be found easily and looks good!

I sell books for 1p. Logic dictates that if I can't sell them for a penny, no one must want them.
My postage rates are usually half of what eBay dictates to be the maximum I can charge.
It's swings and roundabouts, a lot sell at a penny but the very few that 'take off' and make a good price make it worthwhile!

The point of starting the thread was NOT to let grapes know that listing under 99p was free, which I already knew. The penny dropping (If you'll excuse the pun) that second category listing is double the price and henceforth FREE was the real revelation.

I have some illustrated books that I could do more justice to if I showed numerous photographs of the illustrations. Under normal circumstances this could prove costly, but now if I list them in one obscure category in Home and Garden AND in their rightful category, it should mean I will pay nothing for the extra photographs and still reach the target audience!
