    Update

    Well,
Having been reassured by KLM customer Services, I duly took my son with me to the airport where they duly refused to accept our Dutch ID cards
Apparently they only work if you are that nationality to start with so the poor thing had to go back home with his dad.
The wedding however was great and I had a lovely couple of days at my parents. It would have been more fun if I'd had my son with me though.
Looks likely there will be another family wedding next year though so I will have to make sure his passport is renewed asap.
The cake was made by my Mum and looked fab. Thought you grapes might like to see it.

Not been able to log in for a while, but I would have said what you have just explained Incy, the card will only be valid for a Dutch national.
Real shame the lad missed out, but at least you got to enjoy it.
      Cake looks tops too.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out in the end, but you say there's another wedding next year so at least he'll have that one to look forward to.
        Nice looking cake btw
        Location....East Midlands.

          Thanks Guys,
I think he had quite a nice 'boys time' with his Dad. Even got him to 'steal' my bike and go for a long cycle so not all bad.
Mum is an amazing cook but that cake was a real winner. Wedding cakes often look great but don't taste fantastic. there was none left after the event so it seems everyone enjoyed it
It was quite nice being able to enjoy my parents and siblings without having to worry about what my son was up to but I did miss him.
Will definitely get his passport sorted asap though. We now have open invites to Vienna. Paris and the Loire Valley

              ROFL Enrich,
The googly eyes is about how much it's going to cost ( I left out New York where we already had an open invite to).
My son definitely wants to go and reminded me about New York!
Let's hope I manage to avoid redundancy!

That's where I was at the beginning of the week near cholet. Only had 2 days this time but if I come down with the boys we will undoubtedly bring the car and would love to stop by en route

Cholet is about an hour and a half from me.
Plenty of bedrooms, coffee and croissasnts/pain au chocolat always available

                      Hi Bobleponge,

La Loire has been our favourite area over the last 10 years or so, then in the last 2 or 3 years we've explored Le Loire, Sarthe valley and below Le Mans. We haven't been able to get over this year because of health issues with both OH and myself, he's just has a skin cancer removed hopefully all is ok now. We would like to have a week in October, have you any recommendations for an area where the weather might still be reasonable and there are things to see at that time which are within easy reach by car. We do find that France tends to shut up shop at the end of Sept in the not too touristy areas.
