So sorry for you Rogesse & all the other plot holders.
My thoughts also are kids "with nothing better to do"(Jeez I hate that excuse!)
Maybe have a word with some of the local schools...make a bet they'll be bragging about it when they go back!
But then it could also be someone with a vendetta(sc)...has anyone recently been asked to vacate a plot?
Little *&%^$£%'s...hope they get what they deserve!
Big hugs to you!{{{{x}}}}
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx
Bad luck! Peg the little snots out over an ants nest!
If you think you can move it I have an 8 yr old 'Stella' Cherry tree that I have to move this winter - you are welcome to it. It is about 12' high......
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!
Have just come back off holiday/visiting dad to find devastation on the lottie site - 50% of the whole has been badly vandalised.
I'm at the begining of the site and have had
french beans all ripped out by roots and canes snapped
Standard red currant and cherry tree kicked snapped near bases
polytunnel frame kicked in
shed 'glass' put out and side kicked in
Most of my damage is repairable (except my lovely standard red currant), the cherry tree will live and I have french beans growing at home.
Other plot holders have had worse damage and they are on the whole a lot older than me except the Albanian lad who had all his corn snapped over at the base (I hope he catched them given what he's threatened to do.....)
The council bloke has said it's the worst he's seen in over 30yrs............so I'm mighty depressed and could do with some very effective curses - along the style of extremities dropping off!
This is the first time it has happened to me so words of comfort (and curses) please!
rogesse......thats really awful, what a dreadful thing to come home to. you have me worried now...i'm in enfield as well and havent been to my lottie since fri.....will pop down soon!. what site are you on?.
i think i've planted all my fr beans, but if not, i'm happy to pass some on if you like.
I'm always speechless with anger when I hear of these things. It's happened to us a few times over the years and possibly the worst part is, for a long time afterwards when you go to your plot instead of looking forward to it there's this dread in the pit of your stomach, because you're wondering what you'll find. I've seen men who've had plots for decades turn around and walk away because it's happened just once too often. I tend to get angry and all the more determined not to let the yobs win, but at the same time it is so very disheartening. I hope you'll be able to feel more positive soon.
As for councils; if all the plots are now full, with waiting lists, as most are, then presumably they aren't as cash strapped these days as they've claimed in the past. I think it's time that they ploughed some of the money from increased numbers of rents collected back into the sites and used it to increase security. If they do they might find that sites remain fully tenanted well into the future.
I presume it is related to it being the summer break and bored kids. Maybe there is a case for the xbox after all, if only to keep them out of the allotments.
Sorry to hear about your lottie, at least no one was hurt. I would have been devastated too. I don't have any curses but believe me bad karma has a terrible way or in your case a good way of coming back to folk and biting them in the butt when they least expect it.
Take care, may your troubles be few and your blessings many.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
