Sidney the rescue Greyhound is coming to the Mintys.

Hiya all.
Gotta share our great news. The Minty household is due to be blessed with a new arrival. His name is Sidney and he is a 7 year old rescue greyhound. We collect him on the 8th of Sept and we are all so excited.
We went to the greyhound rescue centre in Mansfield an totally fell in love with him. I have never known such a calm and affectionate dog.
The only problem is i now want ALL the greyhounds at the centre as you feel so bad choosing one and leaving the rest behind.
When he arrives i will take a few piccies and post them.

If our friends "Maggie" is anything to go for,great choice!
She was a little nervy when they first got her,didn't much like other dogs when out walking,but is now(as she was then!)a lovely dog.They have a seven year old daughter & she's great with her.
Hope you have lots of happy times with him!x

My Sister had a rescue Greyhound a few years ago - she was absolutely lovely (unless you were a cat ) I confess I never saw the attraction before, but adore them now!

Aawww, Congratulations. My best friend has always had rescue greyhounds, she wouldn't have anything else. They are so calm, affectionate....and lazy, they're almost the perfect dog. I hadn't known her long when she asked me to take care of her son over the Christmas school holidays - she'd suddenly and unexpectedly found a job. The dog lay on the sofa all day the first day. 'Shouldn't we take the dog out?' I asked 'Nah, she'll not want to go' said the son. She didn't move for eight hours, then jumped up the moment her 'mum' came home, went for a quick walk then resumed her place on the sofa. I barely saw her move in all the years I knew her. My friend's current one is slightly more lively - but not much. They're surprisingly loving though, especially when you consider that they've been kenneled all their lives. I hope Sidney gives you as much love and fun as my friend has had from hers.

P.S., Minty, what on earth is that on your avatar, I've tried enlarging it with no success and even with my reading glasses it looks like a cross between a duck and a crocodile. (Sorry it's probably really obvious to everyone else. )

Great news Minty. We always had at least one rescue greyhound when I was a kid growing up, and yes, lazy but affectionate things they really are.
Great with young'uns too, there were 4 of us, and whilst none of us ever intentionaly did anything bad, we were kids, and I'm sure we must have tried their patience to the N'th degree.
Since being in a position to be a growedy up and have my own dogs, I've had rescue's, although not greyhounds. You gotta luv em!!

Well done Minty. You made a great choice.

We had a greyhound called Flash (sadly dead now) but he was a lovely and very loving dog if, a bit timid at times. He lived well with out 2 cats - I think he was more scared of them than they were of him

Flash also used to love tearing things up to make a bed with including newspapers and tissues etc so you might need to keep important papers out of reach just to be on the safe side

I'm sure you'll have years of fun and love with Sidney and I'm sure he will be happy in his new home.

Yup, just like Flash. He used to lie anywhere other than his own bed, we often used to find him stretched out over the cat bed
