What a beautiful dog. We just adopted a lurcher (mainly greyhound but with a rough coat) a couple of months ago. Sighthounds are great dogs, but I would warn you that he may always need to be kept onlead for the rest of his life. Nothing over rides that chase instinct, especially if they were racers in a previous life. Bunnies are fine to chase, they soon go down a hole and the dog is back with you.. but it's the deer that you really need to watch out for. They'll run for miles, across roads and through fences. Our dog has a harness and 10m long lead when we go out on walks. Lots of freedom, but safety as well. Hopefully you can also find some secure fields in the area you can let him off lead for full speed runs as well. Best of luck!

He's a handsome lad. Looks as if he is a very laid back pooch.

What a lovely addition Minty. I wantd a greyhound as they've got fantastic natures, but opted instead for tiny dogs that could come and go out of the catflap as they please.. which would be somewhat difficult for a grey hound

My Gemma is part greyhound (we think). She was renamed, as her previous owners called her Minnie!
My sister got adopted by a greyhound ages ago. When she went shopping there was this friendly lady-greyhound hanging about, and it followed her home. She had the dog for about 7 years. I still haven't entirely forgiven her ex-husband for what happened when they spilt up. Big sister couldn't cope with the dog, on her own, so he had it put down..... Susie was so nice natured!
One warning. Susie had a problem with her tail, which I gather is not rare. If she was REALLY pleased to see you, there was a risk of her tail hitting something (usually the coffee table), and when that happened the end sometimes split, splattring blood all over! (not really a lot, but it looked like it).
