Not very well..

My little furry friend isn't well at all (Jinny the cat), he's got an abuse on his cheek, I took him to the vets on Friday and she lanced it for him...he didn't even flinch, they gave him penicillin for 5 days. He looked like he was picking up this morning, but by dinner time he was feeling really sorry for himself, he was going to the toilet every 10 Min's, which worried me because there was blood in his wee, so i called the vet, she said to take him in straight away, by this time i was in a right state, she took his temperature (which he didn't like) and said he had a secondary infection in his bladder, "cystitis" poor little man, so now he's curled up under my bed on a new bean bag bed i bought for him... I feel so helpless, I hate seeing him like this. I really don't know what else i can do!!
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

assuming he has medication for the infection it will pass, Charlie (my babe now gone) had this two or three times in his life, it always reacts to medication really well

My cat Puss has had urinary infections twice and it has cleared up with meds. Its horrible feeling so helpless, but I hope he feels better soon.

I had a cat that had urinary infections every year. They cleared up fine time after time.

Poor thing - has he been given further medication? I suppose he needs time to flush it out of his system, is he drinking lots? Hope he is feeling better soon.

Thanks for the well wishes, yes he's on some more medication as well as his penicillin.
He's just wolfed some steamed cod down what i cooked for him, and he's had a little drink (ye ha).
The vet told me NOT to give him dry cat food anymore, because it dehydrates him so quick, even with all the water he drank with it, apparently it can lead to urinary problems, I wouldn't mind....but the dry cat food he has, i buy from the vets anyway.
So its wet food from now on.

Just give Jinny loads of TLC (which from the sounds of it you are already doing) He'll be fine. Is Jinny your avatar?

Hope the puss is feeling a little better now, I understand your worry I have 2 fur balls (cats) here.

Just keep him warm and quiet, and of course all the best food from now on.

Also its obligatory to now let puss have your bed to sleep on/in as required.!

Our vet told us not to give our cat wet food, cos its no good for their teeth. !!!!!!!! Hope puss is feeling better today.

OUrs have my sons bed to sleep on/in. They aren't allowed in our room. OH is terrified he might roll over and squish one if they were on our bed

Yes, FF..he's the little chap in the top left hand corner...he's milking this being poorly lark for all its worth (you can tell he's a male ), he loves his new bean bag, so my bed's safe (for now), he's in the garden sun bathing at the moment, he had scrambled egg (free range of course ) for breakfast, he seems a bit brighter in himself and meowing which is always a good sign with him... i think in his own way it was a thank you mummy.

I remember one time when Charlie had this - he looked and sounded like he was peeing razor blades, I would have given him anything he asked for - thankfully the meds do the trick swiftly

Ginger ninger I know how you feel and send my love to you and the little chappie!
I have a poorly 'Monty' cat, keeps licking the fur off his tummy-near his back legs?
Its such a worry as they cant tell you whats wrong.

He's much better today, he's been visiting the old lady across the road, his face is still sore but his cystitis has nearly gone, he's eating much better so i think he's on the mend.
