I learned to do lime plastering. In some ways it is easier than 'modern' stuff, because it is much more forgiving (doesn't 'set' nearly as fast), but in other ways it is harder (takes ages to be fit for painting, allthough less critical with lime-wash than modern paint, mixing old and new doesn't work very well). On a new extension, surely you would be using plaster-board and simply 'skimming' to conceal the joins?
That should be do-able, so go for it!
I'm VERY GOOD with lime plaster on old walls!!!!!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
