And if you follow this link you'll see another problem with the new format.

Yeah, it looks dodgy on mine also but I think that's because of davefromthechippy's oversized piccies rather than the new ad's format!

That always happens with big pictures; it's not the ads that have done that.

On my screen, the adverts sit practically in the middle of (and over the top of) the picture I assume that the bigger the screen you have, the less likely it is that will happen

Sorry, I should have explained further. The link led to a post with an oversize picture. Before the change that just meant I'd get a scroll bar at the bottom. But now the ads "float" over the picture (and text) on the right hand side of the screen, see attached for a poor quality partial screen grab.

I'm using my old lappy, it has a 4x3 ratio screen, the resolution is 1024x768 and my browser is IE7.

The ads are placed in an iframe that is 140 pixels wide and 1500 pixels high and the div containing the iframe is set to float right.

Nope- it's been done - like or lump it ,it's here to stay.If our opinions mattered we would have been asked before it happened.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

I know I'm not comparing apples with apples, but if a newspaper editor left a blank column approx. 1/7th of the page wide on every page of his publication for the sake of an ad that just took the first couple of inches I don't think his employers would be very happy.

I'm going to post a thread in the Admin section so that the Admin team know this is here - in case they have missed it.

Madmax's Location string is so long that it makes the page wider, just like links to over size pictures do, so if one of his posts happens to be near the top of a page we get the same effect, for example http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...tml#post505997

On a positive note, when browsing on my phone, the ads are shoved to the bottom of the screen so i don't see them at all, and it loads faster Pity replies take so long to type out...
