Redcurrant stains?

Ok, so yesterday I had a spectacular event in my kitchen. Having removed all the redcurrants from the freezer, and got the juice running nicely, I started to put the pulp through the jelly bag, placed on the kitchen table.

After about 1 pint of juice had been extracted, the jelly bag gave way.....juice splashed all over table, floor, walls, me, the fridge, my Mum (who was helping), handbag, and all 4 chairs which have cream slip covers on.

I am beginning to see the funny side but I can't get the stain out. All the covers (and my white t shirt!) have had one cycle with bio washing powder, but I've still got a pale brown stain on everything.

Any ideas?

Try some vanish or similar then wash again. if its white can you put it in bleach????

I know you don't want to hear this but when I got bramble stains on my light blue trousers (what sort of a div goes collecting blackberris in her pale blue trousers? Oh yeah, me!) I ended up tie-dying them! Sorry.

Sorry can't help with the stain solution - I'm sure there is something out there to at least lighten the damage.

I'm chipping in with a possible preventative?....if you support the jelly bag in/over a collander or large sieve which then rests on the collection receptacle it would at least have less distance and possibly less area to spill into? Just a thought.

Hope you have some luck in finding a stain remedy - there's loads on the internet - eg salt solution for redwine stains.

Try bio powder, works far better than non-bio for things like that (does a great job on grass stains and baby poo!). Then hang to dry outside to let the sun do its thing.

Thanks all. Bio didn't help, unfortunately, but I'm having another go with Vanish in the wash too.

The white t shirt is in for a soak, and I've got extra rubber bands holding the bag !

Have you tried White Wizzard? It's a sort of gooey paste which can be applied with a damp cloth, and is SUPPOSED to remove a wide range of stains (you can put the garment through the washing machine, or lket it dry, brush off the residue, and wear).
Never tried it on fruit juice, very effective on SOME stains, less so on others.

white wine...........3/4 of a bottle for you, the rest on the stain, let it soak overnight :-)
