It's been 2 years for me; and I have finally come to terms with the fact that there is only so much I can do! Our plot is covered in weeds this year, as we spent ages sorting out the polytunnel...

I used think about our lack of progress, and the fact that (e.g.) this year my raspberries were rubbish, or that I still haven't managed to get any carrots planted at all....

Now, I've taken the step of saying/thinking - So What? It's not a race... if I don't get as much done one year, I'm not going to stress and fret over it.

I also don't feel the need to check my books over every single little thing anymore. I will often do quick read through before planting stuff, but am not quite as obsessed by details as I was.

Oh, this is a nice, cathartic thread actually!

In the secnd year, and only this year have I managed to finally think about and grow some winter veg.
I find though, that when I have a glut of some things [it's currently celery and tomatillos], I'm not organised enough to get it all in and preserved in some way so it ends up going over a bit.

I found that all the reading in the world on the subject of veg beds and growing etc seemed not to make much sense or pretty much went over my head until I actually started the process of sowing and growing stuff.

It seemed too confusing and much stuff still is. I only have four v small beds in my back garden and we have put this first summer of growing stuff down to 'experience'. And expect at least to do the same for the next 2 to 3 years hoping for some sort of coherence and pattern to set in.
