As for the pub - I'm less help. I have worked a milk round and run a bar but so far - touch wood - I can carry a glass or three safely.

I think you should go and talk to your quack and see if this is a nerve disorder or some such - these things do happen. won't cure the problem but at least you will have an answer and a reason to offer people if accidents happen.
Thanks TPeers - I have a "normal" mug at my desk (I fill up a flask of hot water in the kitchen in the morning and have tea bags at my desk), it's not the picking up and drinking from that's the problem (unless it's very full), it's the carrying.

I'm 99.9% confident that it a psychomental problem not a physical-logic one, as mentioned before, if there's no-one there I'm fine - it's when beady eyes are watching. I wouldn't say it's a panic attack per se', but from how people describe panic attacks that's the nearest I can get to a description of how it makes me feel.

Good to hear I'm not alone though people - thank you.

Same here. If I'm in the house alone, I could almost carry three mugs of hot tea, stacked one on top of the other, whilst juggling balls in the other hand, lol! Just don't send me to the bar to get your drinks!

So all I would say is don't ignore it (and get better soon)
Currently going through the same process. It's taking ages so am about to check if my BUPA insurance covers it to try and speed up the tests. On the NHS it's one at a time and having waited for 5 weeks for the xrays to come back........

I think it proabably is all in the mind Wayne as you suspect & there are lots of people out there including me with similar problems, if it doesn't affect your life in a big way & you can work round it I'd just live with it but if it's starting to really worry you you could always go to the docs. & ask to be reffered to a behavioural psychologist or whatever they're called nowadays & they may be able to help.
I'm hopeless with trays of cups etc. & can only carry hot drinks two at a time holding tightly to the mug handles. I think it partly goes back to when I was young & visiting a friend's house, we brewed up & I was carrying a cup of tea through to her mum when I spilt some on her hand & she swore & said 'stupid girl, look what you've done' before looking up & realising it was me & changing it to ' never mind, go & get a cloth'. I felt really bad about it!

I don't know if this is the same thing (I am useless with carrying trays, drinks, etc, too) but I was in Sainsburys last week buying a box of 18 eggs - very cautiously lifted the carton top to check the eggs were sound and relieved to see all were fine until, the split second when an egg in the corner 'jumped' out of box and smashed on floor. I was not aware of twitching or anything and I was concentrating so hard on taking care...

I'm great at making up Bean's milk. Luckily he hasn't asked for it 'stirred' as yet.

This 'affliction' has reared its recently - though no real manifestation. I've been to two interviews recently and asked for a glass of water, which has resulted in no issue at all. However, in the back of my mind is the thought - what if I get the job, and they have a drinks rota....

I've not got either job, but that danged thought won't leave me alone.

I think I'm slowly getting better though. How y'all doing?

                  Not seen this thread before..
My affliction is not only can I not carry drinks without spilling them but also I cannot pour drinks without missing the cup. If I make a drink I always have to mop up afterwards, and if I'm ever having a meal at anyones place do not give me your best glass cos I'm sure to knock it over.

Yes, you are amongst friends bigman so don't be embarrased. It appears that your problem is more common than you first thought. Good luck mate, hope you find a cure.

Yup, I used to have the same problem and thought it was a stress thing until I found out I actually had an overactive thyroid, although there were no other symptons until suddenly one of my eyes went funny. Treatment and medication means now no shakes and no funny eye thank heavens. Could be worthwhile having it checked out.
