Shortie you were brilliant, a real natural! Just watched it on iPlayer, your garden looks great too. I've used lavender a few times in cooking & sprinkled on salads etc., I love it but O.H.'s not too keen, must try the cheese/tom/lavender recipe!

Just caught up via iPlayer. Your garden looks stunning Shortie, wish there'd been more shots of it! And if I may say so, you look about 19
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

You can download a recipe booklet on the BBC's Dig-In website. Doesn't have that many of the recipes in it, so I would imagine there will probably be a book out at the end of the series.

You can get all the recipes on the BBC site though and I'd have thought that any book would already be out so maybe this is a first ie a cookery programme without a book............

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Aren't most new books on sale in October for the Chr errm December shopping spree?

Sorry everyone.. I've been having 'one of those' spells.. Mr Shortie was on Holiday for a week, and the house took a week to recoup from me on my own with the boys, lol!!

Seahorse.. I think I'm in love again... 19? Lol, I hit 30 a couple of weeks ago

Shortie, you've got me into trouble....

We watched it and MR OWG said... "OWG, why doesn't your patch look like that??" I muttered something about being very busy, however now Mr OWG has seen what people on the Vine's garden's are like, apparently, I've got no excuse.... humph!

However, well done on your TV appearance - you definitely don't look 30!!

For those of you who were wondering if there was a recipe book to accompany the series it doesn't seem there is, probably as it was meant to show that you could cook good food without having to refer to a recipe book. There is however a DVD of the series available from 02.11.09, it's available from the BBC/Amazon/Play.com etc. but the cheapest at the moment is Amazon.

I don't know about other grapes but I'm going to miss "Nigel" in my front room on a Thursday evening.

                            Just watching it now...
...is that SERIOUSLY how he juices lemons? Either he's got the world's strongest grip or he's wasting about half the juice by doing them like that.

His juice of 4 lemons is only about 2 or 3 lemons worth. Daft.

I'll shut up and watch the rest now!

                              Great show!
I'm going to have to watch the rest of them before they expire on iPlayer.

I learned this approach when I was a "mixologist" (posh-speak for a cocktail bartender in high end bars) and try to do it in my food too - but this is good encouragement to really let loose on it.

I don't suppose anyone knows where I can get a pestle and mortar similar to the one Nigel used. It was shallow and wide and looked really easy to use. I've tried googling but to no avail.
