I was reading on MoneysavingExpert.com that some folk have already done next years Chrimbo present buying!
Saw that too and though it was very sad - it's one thing to buy a few cards and paper in the sale but to do all the presents before you've taken the previous year's tree down is just wrong!!!!!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Mrs NOG came home today armed with cards and rolls of wrap.
I just hate all that commercialism of Christmas and have cut out as much of it as I can. But the way things are, in future years might just take off for warmer climes in a well organised Muslim country where it can all be ignored. Tunisia might do the job.

My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
Thanks for starting this one Nick, I suppose someone had to!
I hate the way Christmas is now, commercialised and fake (not that I'm religious) but there is so much pressure for everyone to spend loads of money, buy more food than they can eat, buy pressies that are "the best" instead of putting a little thought into what people would really like.
The Christmasses I used to enjoy were when my children were little, quite simple cos we didn't have much money, but happy family times and everyone was very grateful for what they got. The children used to make decorations for the tree and the rooms. Nowadays if it isn't the "in" designer label or "must have" item (decided by the marketing gurus) whatever you give seems to be looked down on - and how many people create financial problems for themselves by borrowing to give what is expected rather than what they can actually afford to give/do?
Sorry everyone, rant over, but I do wish we could go back to the old values
Thanks Rustylady, my sentiments exactly and I'm sure shared by a few more. I don't do all that stuff, I just do Christmas my way. I think more and more people are finding the courage to do the same.

I got away with bottles of mulled wine (it went further that way)
