  • Where Did You Meet Your OH....?

After reading and posting on "binley100" tread about romantic pressie's, it got me thinking... Where did you meet your OH..?
I meet mine at a "Beer festival" in 1985, on a blind date...He was/still is one of my friends husbands best mate's, I really didn't like him to start of with, he just wasn't the sort of guy I went for... but it just goes to show, don't judge a book buy it's cover, you could miss out on soooo much.

    It's all my brothers fault!

Met TOH at a role playing club that my bro took me to when I was down from Uni for one of the vacs. That would have been.... 1990 ish....
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

University. First person who spoke to me on a 'getting to know each other' day, before the real start of term.
NOT a good approach to Uni, neither of us completed the course, but 38 years later, we've got something better than a couple of degrees.

Met Mr D at a charity / self help group meeting, I'd gone along to the first meeting to see whether I could help, and he was one of the main driving forces behind setting it up! Got on really well, started to do some work for the group together, fell in love, started going out (after we'd both disentangled ourselves from our current boyfriend/girlfriend), I moved in 24 hours after we officially started going out, and we married 6 weeks later, 6 months to the day after we met!

Its 9 years that we've been married on Samhain this year! Still madly in love with him, he's wonderful! (I dont deserve him and tell him so often!)

At work - took a few months before we went out together, 10 years on and some ups and downs we are still happy.

Ow Ollie, that's so sweet, I do hope you find someone who's deserving of all your fantastic drawings...which i might add, we haven't had many of lately. Did the birthday night out with your mates drowned your talent ???? xx

Maybe you will...and she'll be even lovelier than you were expecting

We met at work too, but fairly quickly decided it was better to work at separate firms. Mr R is consistently lovely and thoughtful every day - it's just how he is - so it doesn't trouble me in the least that he's not really into doing romantic gestures.

He bought loads of herbs and planted up the new herb bed in the rain the other day...does that count?

I know it sounds a bit dopey but he's kind and funny and handsome and he's my hero

                      We met in television.

Welllllllll, that's not entirely true, but it's not a lie.

We both worked for some dodgy "TV production" company in telesales. I still remember how she looked when she walked through the door and I saw her for the first time.

                      She's my best mate.

In Gibraltar 1991 - he was there on a tour of duty.

I had gone out to see a female pal who was married to a RAF Copper, saw SD in the Corporals Summer Ball. Two weeks of sun, sand and other stuff followed.

I went back to Cornwall, having had a happy holiday and good time.

He came back to UK two weeks later and 'got' me

At school. His friend (they were two years above me) was trying to chat me up and, in one of the few instances in my life where I've actually been assertive, I told the friend to go away because I preferred to talk to OH, who wasn't quite so stupid and didn't do the showing off thing to which 16 year old boys seem so prone. Our parents hated each other on sight though and the 'romantic' part was a sort of Romeo and Juliet stylee standing up to them. More than 35 years later and our parents have probably spent a grand total of less than 8 hours in each other's company. The photo of them standing together at our wedding has such forced smiles it's comical. When our children were born (the first one on Christmas Eve, making things even more difficult) OH had to draw up a rota of who could visit the hospital and at what times, no one listened at first though, they all turned up at the same time on Christmas Day and it was more like a wake than either meeting a grandchild or even Christmas.

Met mine at work ( second OH for me ). We worked in a pub him at the bar me in the resturant, I didnt like him at all. Then when my marriage broke up he was the first one to offer me support, borrowing his car etc when I needed one, he even paid the insurance for me. At first he was very romantic sending me cards, giving me flowers, ringing me everyday, cooking for me etc, now I only get these things if its my birthday etc.

He was a friend of my boyfriend. We lusted after each other for more than 4.5yrs, more so after I moved away from the area (with BF's job), but I had a settled life (house, animals, lifestyle). I split with BF, moved back to Mole Valley and got together with Chris. That was nearly 5 yrs ago. Eep!
