to day i have just eaten my 1st ever sweetcorn cob. never eaten sweetcorn very often ,no taste ,and never on the cob .so i wasnt expecting to much, but as i had grown them i thought i best eat at least the 1st ripe one. not even sure if i picked it at the right time, but must admit it was nice and sweet .not going to do a song and dance over them but ill eat the rest when they are ripe enough, and grow again next year.
just thought id enlighten the masses with this essential piece of hot news!

this is my second year,and have just eaten a cob...wow,full of moisture and sweetness,it was so nice,i think had i been offered chocolate the answer would have been,no thanks.......but will save it for laters

One way to know they're ripe is keep an eye on the local badgers - if they get to them before you, you'll know they were ripe! Lost some of ours to badgers!

You really can't beat a home-grown corn on the cob, home and in the pan within ten minutes, served with butter and black pepper. I've even known lottie holders equip their sheds with mini gas burners so they can cook them on-site.

Mine was almost too sweet! Not going for the supersweet seeds next year. Was still yummy though cos I grew it!

Corn fed badger if only there was a market for it as a delicacy then perhaps they could pay for the damage to my last car the last suicidal Badger stepped out in front of the car and managed to smash the bumper, wreck the radiator damage the suspension to make it worse he didn't swap insurance details with me

i've still got one cob in the freezer from last year - got several more cobs still to pick this year, probably tomorrow - hope i can fit them in the freezer too - tons of green beans to pick and freeze as well!

My corn on the cob harvest depends entirely on one thing. Me getting home before the farmer cuts his field.
I dont really like the stuff so dont grow it, however I do like to rustle a few from the fields around. Was talking with Thierry just before I came back to work, and he reckoned they would be harvesting them around the same time I get home, so I just hope I dont get home to a big bare field next door.

So sweet raw, But when I do cook it I have the pan of boiling water ready to pop the corn straight in, I read that the juice starts to turn to starch as soon as you pick it, that's why shop bought stuff tastes so....well shop bought.

I love them best barbecued in their jackets then eaten with butter and salt....yum
