Not much to add to the above points but I'm now trying to think of equally 'beautiful/successful' couples.

    The Obamas
    The Beckhams

    er...

there must be others (and The Beckhams is pushing it really!).
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

A sweating dissembling fantasist liar and a scrounging old trout with a robots mouth.
A tattoists testbed and a skeleton covered in orange canvas.

            Er indeed.

I find extreme wealth remarkably unattractive. Have a friend who pretty much judges her men by their jobs, cars, watches etc and wouldn't be seen dead with somebody who doesn't spend a fortune on designer goods and looks the part. As a result she tends to end up going out with a lot of selfish, self centered idiots who don't treat her as an equal. I know it's a generalisation but I'm happier with my normal OH who doesn't need to show off than she'll ever be with any of her men.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've often pondered this. Surely in this day and age women don't need a "provider" as such? I've seen/met/known a lot of women who would rather not have to bother providing for themselves though if they can have someone else do that bit for them. And I suppose that there's a lot we have conditioned into us that we know better than to go along with.

I don't think that many men find powerful women attractive though. Possibly they're less attractive women (in general) who are pushed that way because they have fewer distractions from the opposite sex or feel they need to prove themselves in other areas to make up for lack of romance? Or maybe that's what makes more unattractive men more successful too? Only it works better for the men..

I like a bit of pwoar factor in a man, myself. Call me shallow (I'm sure they have lovely, engaging personalities), but I wouldn't touch any of those men on the list with a bargepole the length of the Camden Allotment Waiting List (especially if you add Wayne Rooney to the list!).

I agree alison, my OH and i went on the most expensive honeymoon the hotel was rich mans paradise (took us 3 years to save up !), it was full of the most ugly men ive every seen with the young pretty women, young enough to be their daughters ! but they had big fat wallets !! it looked revolting ! but not just that, the opposite way round really old rich women with good looking young men ! boggles my mind

Let them be shallow if they want... their choice, but on the the subject of Very old rich men with young girls or visa versa, I class it the same as prostitution, just legalised by the certificate ..

I was once asked by one of my teachers what I would like to be when I grew up, I said a rich lay-about.
Well I'm half way there .................................I'm still poor.
