Only one Big Jim growing but that's got it's first proper leaves starting to form now. Was really chuffed when I got back on Friday from a week away and it was still alive and various other peppers / chilli / aubergines had sprouted also. Will be planting a second set this pm so will have to see how they go - lounge floor is currently covered with newspaper pots!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

My seeds arrived a couple of days ago and I'll plant them in the next couple of days. Might be last but I'm sure I'll catch up!
Also ordered some really hot chilli seeds whilst I was online...got a rating on 10+++ or 10++++Rachel

Hi Gryfon,
Just curious, what will you use the hot chile peppers for. I grow some every year but have never grown anything above a 7 rating.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Well my other half has a death wish when it comes to chillis! He's looking forward to cooking with them...as long as he does my dinner seperately!Rachel

The hotter the better as far as I'm concerned, I love hot foods, so we've 11 varieties of chilli growing, 4 of each plant is the target, some nice mild ones for Mr D (he has a duodenal ulcer so cant have things too hot) and some scorchers for me! Plans include making chilli powder with some of the dried ones, chilli flavoured oils, chilli sauces and freezing some! I cant wait!Blessings

Our 3 growing Big Jims have been potted on, the 2 smaller ones (about 3" tall) are in 3" pots, but the BIG Jim is in a 5" pot, and he's about 6" tall already! He's right in the middle of the windowsil, getting pampered he is, cos we both have high hopes for him!Blessings

My "best" Big Jim is looking very good now, about up to speed with my peppers - the best of which has a pepper on, a few more are flowering. My other Big Jim, which was a real runt to start with, is growing on fine. The other 5 did nothing ! I'm not going to plant anymore as I have enough chillies and peppers - so all my eggs are in one basket on this one.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

My big Jims are HUGE! they were one of the last varieties i sowed (came to the comp late) and are now overtaking my early chilli sowings! Probably helped by the fact they are sitting on the windowsill in our living room which is a suntrap and the other chillies have been shipped off to the greenhouse (because of lack of space) which isn't quite so warm overnight, although is heated.
Most of the big Jims now need re-potting out of their 3in pots into someting larger.......there's no rest for the wicked eh!There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted
Happy Gardening!

My best Big Jim now has flower buds on ! Can't believe it! I see I am 164th on the leaderboard - right there beside Wizer ! I think all that will change soon. I see Chris has chillie 10cm long! And a few other British growers have chillies on.
I've given Big Jim a good talking to, and explained any size of a chillie will shove him up that leaderboard - so I hope he was listening.
How is everyone else getting on ?

1 Big Jim is now 8" tall, 2 others are about 4" tall, and we've another 1 that has just been repotted, having only recently germinated! No sign of any flowers or chillies yet, but I have high hopes for the BIG Big Jim on the bedroom windowsill!Blessings
