  • Big Jim Competition

The Big Jim Chillie Pepper competition officially opened yestarday and I've got my seeds in the airing cupboard so - the race is on. Good luck to all my fellow competitors. If anyone wants to enter but hasn't done it yet it's not too late. I think you can enter up until March.

I divided my seeds, there were 13, and put 7 in the airing cupboard and kept 6 in reserve just in case. Is this good tactics or should I go for all or nothing to be sure of getting the best one as early as possible. What a quandry !

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

I was holding off for a few weeks before sowing but I fear the seeds may need to get started earlier than I thought, I do have a heated grenhouse which will help.

Not received my seeds yet so obviously not done anything with them. How long did yours take to arrive?

Was intending to plant some in a couple of weeks time and then perhaps another couple of pots a few weeks later as earlier isn't always better - although probably better than too late!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I got my seeds within a day or two of ordering, but I may have to email my user name again as I still have not got one. Seeds going into airing cupboard tomorrow.

My seeds came in a few days Alison and that was in the run up to Christmas. If they don't arrive in next few days I would follow that up.

You could e mail your details again KirstyB and if that doesn't work ask LJ to contact Julian for you. Alison and I had probs getting registered but L J sorted that out. I think they're just very busy but if they're running a competition and selling seed I think they should be better organised.

I ordered seeds on Friday from the recommended source - haven't received them yet though.

Looking forward to getting started - good luck everyone!

                      Good luck all!

                            Hi
Just to clarify on a comment above. We are running the competition but we aren't selling seeds. We recommended chileseeds.co.uk because we found them to be reliable, UK based, and able to ship to most countries for a small fee - in other words perfect for this global competition. But we are not associated with them in any way. If you do decide to order from them and have problems then you'll need to take it up with them directly. Having said that I'd be surprised if you did have any issues with them as they are nice people.

Thanks again all for entering the competition.

                            Julian

Mr D signed us up for this today, I mentioned it to him a while back and he said no, as we had enough seeds, but now he's seen its a competition he's changed his mind! We ordered our seeds today (along with another couple of mild chillis to try (Mr D has a duodenal ulcer so cant eat hot foods), so here's hoping we do ok! I think you'll be able to tell who we are on the leader board, Mr & Mrs Dobby!
