    Thanks Alice!

I read with interest that last years competition used Whippets tail AKA Joe's Long. I grew Joe's Long last year as part of my other chilli challenge and i had one fruit of 31cm....the winning length for the chileman's competition if only i'd known!!!

    Competitive? Moi? ......never!
There's vegetable growing in the family, but I must be adopted

If only Protea ! Well you've got new competition this year and it's for the Guinnes book of records So I'm using fair means and Decided to plant some on Jan 1st to get an early start. So far, my best effort is 1" high with just the seed leaves, 1 has germinated and sitting there doing nothing with the seed still stuck to it, 2 that had sprouted are in pots with no sign of doing anything else, and 3 haven't sprouted after 28 days of loving care. I still think I'll win though I'm only competing against the world. As I said, hope you come second, and look at this for an effort.

        LOL,

I have risen from 114 to 61 and I haven't even managed to germinate 1 seed yet.

Keep this up and i'll be top before no time

Hi Fezinio, 64th looks quite good til you see I'm 9th, Wizer is 10th and KirstyB is 13th. Piglet is 86th and last years winner, Luigi in Sardinia, is 105th. Julian (unconcerned) has gone from 4th to 74th. Well that's today's order, so dear knows how any of it works- especially since seeds have nort even been germinated yet ! But they can keep putting me up the board. For today at least I'm 9th in a world competition !

Erm, aren't the measurments for the fruit, not the plant, or am I being daft.

No, you're right Piglet, the measurements are for the fruit. There are no measurements entered for anything on the leaderboard, so the numbers are arbitary. But for today at least I'm 9th Just have to bask in it while I can. Can see all that changing rapidly

So why I am now in 33rd place?????? Actually planted a couple of seeds yesterday so perhaps that has something to do with it............

Are we gonna have a friendly fun 'competition within a competition' chaps & chappesses?

Biggest Big Jim by a GYOer?

Not been registered yet, and seeds haven't been planted.....but I'm revving the engine at the starting gate!!! (I figure I better get the bragging in quick whilst I can!).

Wow, 13th? last time I checked the board I was somewhere near the bottom. Just checked on my babies. The tallest is a whopping 2 inches high and the smallest is bringing up the rear with 1 inch. All still got just seed leaves, but one has a second pair of leaves threatening (only just!) to sprout. Their current location is behind the telly on the windowsill, because thats where they will get the most natural light. Have taken a photo, will try to upload it later.
