  • Hello Bramble, great to see you on the board there after all your trials - And with an Irish flag. I would quite like to compete under a Saltire - nothing political there, just a recognition of the geographical location - 500 miles north of London - so Julian, if you see this, can I have a Saltire please - yes, I know we want everything..
Bramle, I know what those Big Jims are like to germinate. I now call them Wee Willies. At present rate of progress will be calling them something which alliterates with Fezinio (no offence Fezinio. You know what I mean.)
Glad the seeds I sent you are living up to expectation. They were brilliant for me. Hope they do well for you. A pepper plant in Ireland called Alice ?

    • Cool idea - now problem is I am Scottish but live in Wales - how do we work the flag issue?

      • No issue Shirlthegirl - I would stick with the Union Jack.

          • I'd have thought the union flag suitable for all of Britain, Union or no, we are still a small enough island for it not to be an issue.

            • I am quite happy with the Union Flag but Alice said she wouldn't mind seeing the Saltire - I just mentioned that I would have a dilemma - being a Scot but living in Wales - would be confusing to see the Cross of St Andrew in the dragonland!!

                Someone has a Shetland flag.
Alice, you have been changed to the blue and white Scottishy one

                • Thank you Julian
As I said before , no problem to compete under the Union Jack. But the Saltire does indicate that I'm 500 miles further north than some of my English friends.. Nothing political at all, purely geographical. Good luck everybody.

                    • No problem with catching me up

Seems like nothing wants to germinate for me.

I have got a few cabbages poping up though

                      • Hi Alice, sorry I did'nt reply sooner but was away in the county for the weekend and only got back this evening
Yes, it is nice to see the tricolor on the board and it would be lovely to see yours there too as it adds a bit of variety and also makes you feel proud to see your own flag there.
My seedlings survived my weekend away. They are a little leggy at the moment but I will keep them in the conservatory during the day and the bit of extra light and sunshine (hopefully0 will all help.
                        Hope yours are doing ok.
                        Good Luck.

                          • Hello Bramble, yes my flag has been changed to the Scottish Saltire - well, it is the officially recognised flag for Scotland in international competitions - so , since it's an international competition might as well go for it.
My peppers are doing well, my jalapenos and hot wax have germinated no bother at all but those BIG JIMS. They took forever to even sprout and of 7 I started off, one is a decent looking seedling, just making real leaves, 1 refused to give up it's seed and now doesn't look very good and the rest are just starting to germinate at a rate of nothing ! Dear knows what the problem is, but I've got 6 seeds left to try later so maybe they will be better. At the moment it's just not looking like international competition class! How's everybody else getting on ???
Good luck, somebody has to do good here.
