My neighbouring plots are held by the Christian Foundation but they have now got a new site and have created an Urban Farm. They take trainees to learn the basics of horticulture but also have chickens.
They told me that they were moving the chickens to the new site and that they had other trainees who were learning carpentry and had made the new chicken houses.
Now one of my other neighbours has been made redundant and at 60 has no hope of getting a new job. He wanted to keep some chickens but knew it was going to be a year or so before he could afford to get on with this project. So I wandered over and asked if the CF were taking their existing chicken shed to the new site or were going to start out with their new custom made sheds. They asked why I was asking and I told them of my mate's plight and they gave him the shed.
It was bright pink and we had no idea of what condition it was going to be in but I said well even if you have to do extensive work to it, at least it would put him further along his path to owning chickens.
We moved it and it is a really substantial shed and in very good condition with only a few repairs needed. Well we put it up and he has made the repairs, so now all I need to do is scrounge some fencing (got my eye on some 6' wire netting) and a few other bits and he will be away.
Now I wonder what they are doing with the ark and all the paving slabs or am I now pushing my luck?
