Good on you. It can be a laugh if the rest of them are a good bunch. I'm on the committee of our Harvest Fair which includes the show, and it's fine now we've scared off the village politicians. There was much muttering from the worthies though. Shock, horror, most of us have been in the village less than 10 years.

Obviously. Or perhaps someone died? Or they liked the size of my trombone squash?

Just tell him that you've spoken to The Elders and unfortunately ancient Wherthechuffawi Tribe law forbids any of it's members from joining groups of people where the tea and biscuits will be on display for more than 2 minutes.

In all seriousness though Andrea, its one of those thankless jobs that nobody really wants to do, at the end of the event a polite round of applause and sometimes a bunch of flowers etc are proffered to the memsaabs and jolly well done.
But in reality, a lot of these events round the country simply wouldnt take place without dedicated and organised people like you to do them.
So I say stand up and take a bow, for allowing the likes of PB for example to show off her goodies and win loads of prizes etc.

                Could you rephrase that Bobster?

And Zazen, I think it will be a worthwhile job and i think you'll do it exceptionally well. I'm planning to join our committee in the future, and all the committee members are still allowed to take part in our shows, just not the chairperson.

The committee members are allowed to take part from the looks of it; I recognise some of the winning names from the leaflet! I think they get others to judge...I think if it wasn't for them submitting some years they wouldn't have had any entries at all [from what a neighbour was saying].....mixing the village show with the dog show; and an influx of younger villagers and the allotments being full for the first time in years has probably reinvigorated the show. I would like to get a seed swap up and running, if at all possible, amongst the village as we have open gardens each year as well....

I know the photography judge as she is the lady that runs our photo club; and she is paying me to do a workshop a week monday on basic photography and alternative processing ....which reminds me, must get cracking on that!
