This is great, you get to wear tight tweed and wear your hair in a tighter bun.

I'm thinking of going back to shocking red; I only had it bleached out last summer........and I was wearing my lottie 'Morrissey Dagenham Dave t-shirt' when he asked, so it can't be that I look anyway respectable.

Did your OH find it amusing or did he think you were losing the plot?
He thought it was funny too I'm sure. Or maybe he was laughing at me laughing some much (they've been a bit few and far between recently). Anyway, who cares! it was lovely to laugh so much and real tonic for me - Thank you.

Your comments on threads are always very funny I've just not made the effort to say before. You make a fine job of your days aim.

Just bumping this; I made my suggestions tonight [second meeting I've been to].
a - seed swap [they LOVED it, I talked about the Vine seed parcels and seed saving and they lapped it up]
b - facebook page to try and get non-village people interested [they LOVED it....]
c- mentioned putting the show into Garden News, as well as the open gardens and they had never heard of garden news [:eek] so are all going to the post office tomorrow to buy it
d - got them to change heaviest marrow to heaviest pumpkin
e - mentioned the Vine so one or two might join [Hiya]....

              Job well done so far.....

Needless to say I'm running the seed swap and the facebook page; which gets me out of other duties!!!!

Sounds good! Our allotment committee made noises about a seed swap last year, but nothing seems to be happening about it. I'd make a push, but I don't need anything new on my plate at the mo I'll just offer my self saved peas and stuff around as usual

Heaviest pumpkin instead of marrow is a great idea - our Any Other Veg had quite a few pumpkin entries, but not many in the Marrow class.

I wanted it to be for the kids section; but one of the ladies who has been on the ctte for >12 years kept saying that you never know if it's the kids that have grown it.....but my thoughts are - does it matter if it gets kids interested in any way in growing stuff......?????

Well done you - I sang the praises of the Vine at my GS committee meeting on Tuesday. They were really interested too. I'm going to help collate (aka staple together) the society's Annual this evening, and I volunteered to laminate the membership cards too. OH isn't best chuffed that I volunteered him to help with the book keeping, but hey ho!

No you're ok, you've got the weekend off, still sniggering here!

I managed to give birth on the day of a committee AGM when I was Secretary, so I didn't feel at all guilty about not attending and resigning! Bit of a drastic way to get out of a job though!

Life is too short for drama & petty things!
So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

As I wrote that months ago I had forgotten what I had written. I now see that I obviously have way too much free time on my hands

Reading it back made me smile I didn't laugh though as I don't know if it's acceptable to laugh at ones own joke?

If the ladies are woried about that what would they think of the people who buy preserves and wines and try to pass them off as thier own, It does happen, admittedly it was a long while ago but I remember one unlucky entrant to a home made wine catagory had left plastic seal on the top of the the shop bought bottle even though they remembered to soak the label off. as you said it is more about getting the children involved

                        Thought For The Day
If a plum tomato breaks the law when it’s young
Would it’s criminal past ketchup with it later?

They did say that someone had entered a Costco apple pie once; they only found out as they tried to give the prize money to the winner who insisted that they hadn't entered anything....to find out it was a joke entry by their mate and the entrant knew nothing about it....and yes apparently branston has been entered in the past.

It did make me wonder; I can tell a processed pie a mile off.......but then they hadn't heard of 'garden news' that popular gardening weekly newspaper that's been around for quite a while now!!!
