Yes and bladdy good it was too - he was superb! Such an inevitable ending, but he should have been in boat with a bottle of wine and dickybow on when it happened.....

I have recorded (should we say downloaded these days?) this and looking forward to it - he was a cracker, a bit like marmite, you either loved or hated him I guess

Don't like marmite but thought Floydy was great! Slurp!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Well I enjoyed the memory of Floydy at his best (and worst tantrum-wise!).

A flawed genius whose life was eloquently summed up by another great - Ken Hom when he remarked how wonderful his life in food and in front of the camera had been - but how lonely and tempestuous on a personal level.

My best memory of him was when he went to the Fjords and sampled some moonshine which was a zillion percent proof and gasped - 'oooh my good god'!

I have many recorded videos of his progs - just a few gaps - and 5-6 of his books. He delivered a true cooks tour of the world and the diversity of its peoples and cultures. Boy will I miss him. Even my son can't wait for the updated autobiography soon to be released - Oct some time.

Opened my most expensive purchase of wine in his honour, and son and I shared a wonderful Châteauneuf-du-Pape which he described as 'ideal for killing the pain of life on a Friday night' in his book 'Uncorked'- wisdom and hilarity all-in-one! The bottle is being kept as a memento with a bow tie attached!

As it happens - I tagged his tribute recording onto the back of the last episode of Uncorked.

just watched it - that was so wonderful, he was a class act and to hear all the wonderful tributes - amazing

I sat watching with large vodka in hand, it seemed respectful somehow

                A proper trail blazer.

I still love the clip where he's on the jetty somewhere in Hong Kong I think, and there's an argument going on behind him about payment etc. His attitude and comments were fantastic.

We've a lot to thank him for.

                Slurp dude, slurp.
